Johnny Marr

Johhny Marr, legendary guitarist and songwriter originally found fame with The Smiths and since then has collaborated with many other artists including Modest Mouse and more notably The Cribs. He has guitar god status in the music world and is hailed a genius unanimously yet still hasn't released a solo album.....until now. The Messenger by Johnny Marr will be released in feb 2013 and he will tour it across the UK, he has so far release two singles "The Messenger" and "upstarts" both of which look very promising. I know its bold but I would say this is some of his finest work since his Smiths era. Keep it up Johnny, Can't wait for the rest of the album.

Peace

Just heard this awesome track from new band Peace, Bloodshake from their first 4 track EP. This single uses exotic beats laced with TDCC/foals-esque guitars somewhat reminiscent of blue blood. Check out the rest of the tracks on Delicious (EP). Their Debut album is out on March the 15th and is to be preceded by lead single wraith.

It was a track recorded during the first sessions for Ignore the Ignorant with Johnny Marr and was due to be on the album however was scrapped at the last minute. Though played live occasionally It is known as the lost Cribs tune and studio version was finally unearthed for this album and played for the first time on radio on Steve Lamacq's evening show on January 3rd.

Atoms For Peace

Thom Yorke, Heralded champion of the indie/alternative world breezing his way to the top as lead singer with Radiohead has finally aired his side projects first official single "default".

Atoms For Peace was the title of a track taken from Yorke's 2006 solo album The Eraser and was used to name the band that would accompany him when he toured it, But this was no ordinary band. It was a super group taken straight from the wet dreams of hipsters across the world. It consisted of Thom himself, Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers on bass duties, Long time collaborator Nigel Godrich, Drummer Joey Waronker of R.E.M and Beck fame and percussionist Mauro Refosco.

Thom and co toured for a year or so playing mainly tracks taken from The Eraser and then as touring progressed they played unheard songs written for AFP themselves and not necessarily a solo track from Yorke. Tracks such as Default and Judge,Jury and Executioner had been played live but no studio versions were released until now.

This is perfection, this is exactly what I wanted to hear from them, not something sounding like it could have been a Radiohead B-Side from The King Of Limbs but still sticking to its routes firmly. In fact the only thing it really has in common is Thom Yorkes voice, other than that this is a fantastic new development for Thom and Co and a Band and the debut album AMOK due out on february the 25th will be a corker. released by XL recordings, make a date in your diary. You won't want to miss out.

Everything Everything: Arc

Everything Everything, A band which have taken us by storm in 2010 with debut album Man Alive featuring jagged synth led indie pop, Intricate rhythm sections all lead by the falsetto pipes of lead singer Jonathan Higgs. Their first effort was received to critical acclaim and supported by a string of singles including the infectiously catchy Schoolin and indie disco anthem MY KZ UR BF and now. They have made their return with sophomore album Arc which is due out tomorrow (14/01/2013). Singles Cough Cough and Kemosabe have set tongues wagging desperate to hear the rest which show a fine return to form. Single Cough Cough shows a huge leap in maturity for band with the song tackling more relevant social issues highlighted by the clips of rioting in the official video (below). Kemosabe see's the band lean on a more guitar led melody echoing across the track building to a perfect hook and epic sounding chorus supported by jittery synths and ticking beats, makes for a song that will stick with you all day and not leave you alone. And i couldn't be any happier about it.

I for one cannot wait for this and to see them tour the album in february. Having seen them three times previously they are a band that have a live reputation that shouldn't be taken lightly.

Arc is released 14/01/2013 through RCA records.

Palma Violets

Palma Violets

They recently formed in Lambeth, London in 2011and since then they have been busy touring as much as possible. They have formed a large fan base online before the release of their first official single similar to the Arctic Monkeys. They are currently signed to Rough Trade and we are expecting their debut album "180" out on the 25th of Feb this year. Since having seen them myself at Reading Festival this year in which they had a pretty low billing as they were still relatively unknown I can't help but feel they are going to thrive in 2013. This is proved only by the fact that they have been nominated for the sound of 2013 poll. Best of luck to them.
